Jake Zyrus is a Filipino singer and actor who started his career known as Charice. Throughout the years he has risen from a young hustler to become one of the most internationally-recognized vocalists from the Philippines and is largely known for changing his gender midway through.
Family Life
His mom, Racquel, raised him and his brother, Carl.
His father, Ricky Pempengco, was murdered in a grocery-store altercation in 2011.
Achievements
He appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2008 and on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” in 2014.
His first album (as Charice), “My Inspiration”, has been certified Gold and in the Philippines, and the second, “Charice”, went Platinum in Japan.
He has garnered innumerable awards, accolades and accomplishments throughout the years, many of them while he was still a female.
Trivia
In 2013 Charice revealed to the world that she was a lesbian and since then has begun fully transiting into a male, including having her breasts removed and moniker changed in 2017.
