About Jaimoe (Jai Johanny Johanson)
Jai Johanny Johanson, popularly known by his stage name Jaimoe, is an American drummer and percussionist. He is famous as a founding member of the then-Georgia based rock band The Allman Brothers Band. Before honoring Duane Allman’s invitation to join him in a band, he had done backup drumming for the likes of Otis Redding and Sam & Dave. Despite issues with the band stemming from the death of two of the founding members (Duane and Oakley), the departure of the other members as well as financial difficulties, he stayed with the band, being the only original member to do so.
Achievements
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the other founding members in 1995. The state of Mississippi honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts in 2017.
