About Jack Lord
Jack Lord was the stage moniker of actor, producer and director, John Joseph Patrick Ryan.
With some theatrical training under his belt, he made his debut on Broadway in “The Traveling Lady" in 1954, five years after his premiere commercial film appearance in “The Red Menace aka Project X”. One of his most memorable characters is Steve McGarrett in “Hawaii Five-O”, which he portrayed for 281 episodes from 1968 to 1980.
Family Life
He was born to Irish-American parents who raised him in present-day Richmond Hill in Queens, New York. In 1955, he lost his 12-year-old only son, whom he had with his first wife, Ann Cicily Ward. He was married to Marie De Narde from 1949 until his death.
Achievements
He received a Theatre World Award for his role in “The Traveling Lady”.
Death
He died on 21 January 1998 of a congestive heart failure, aged 77.
