About Ike Turner
Ike Turner was a multitalented American musician, record producer, and songwriter. He is mostly noted for his milestone achievements in the rock and roll scene during the 1950s. Turner is also prominent for his collaboration alongside his then-wife, Tina Turner, whom together they both launched off a musical due known as "Ike & Tina Turner".
Some of his notable songs alongside his Tina include; "Proud Mary" (1971), "Nutbush City Limits" (1973), "Rocket 88" (1986), "I Idolize You" (1961), "Tra La La" (1962), and more.
Family Life
His father’s name is Izear Turner, and his mother is known as, Beatrice Cushenberry. He was noted to have a sister named Ethel Turner.
In addition to Tina Turner, whom he was married to from 1962 to 1978, some of other women he got married to include; Bonnie Wilson (1953-1955), Jeanette Turner (1995-2001), and Audrey Turner (2006-2007).
His children include; Ike Jr., Linda, Michael, Twanna, Mia and actor, Ronnie Turner.
Achievements
Turner got inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame in 2001.
He was also inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame in 2002.
He received the "Memphis Heroes Award" in 2004.
Turner picked up the "Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Group" at the 1972 Grammy Awards.
He picked up the award for "Best Traditional Blues Album" at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
