Idris Elba is a British actor, singer, DJ, writer and rapper known for his portrayal of characters such as Stringer Bell from the crime drama TV series "The Wire", Nelson Mandela from the 2013 biographical film, "Nelson" and John Luther from the crime drama series "Luther". Family Life
He was born to a Sierra Leonean father named Wiston and a Ghanaian mother named Eve.
He's been married multiple times. His first marriage was to Hanne Nørgaard. He fathered a daughter with her in 2002. He and Hanne were married from 1999 all the way to 2003. He married again for the second time in 2006. This time around it was to a woman named Sonya Hamlin. The marriage ended that same year.
In 2014, he fathered his second child with a girlfriend named Naiyana Garth. Five years later (in 2019), Elba got married for the third time. This marriage was to Sabrirna Dhowre.
Trivia
He is also a professional musician who has collaborated with the likes of Jay Z, Pharoahe Monch and Angie Stone. Throughout his musical career, he has released several singles and EPs.
He won his first ever Golden Globe Award in 2011 for his role in "Luther".
On March 16th, 2020, he announced that he had tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. He subsequently placed himself in self-isolation after the test.
