About Ibn Battuta
Berber-Moroccan explorer and scholar Ibn Battuta earned a reputation for being well-travelled after he dedicated more than three decades of his life to exploring the World. The places he explored include Southeast Asia, Central Asia, China, South Asia, Somalia, Swahili Coast and Timbuktu. He authored a travelogue called “The Rihla”.

His extended family had many Islamic legal scholars. His full name is Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Battuta. According to his own stories, he had married different women as he went on his travels.

On record, he is believed to have covered more distance (117,000) in his travels than any other known explorer.
