Career Facts
He was drafted by the Montreal Expos as a 3rd round pick at the 2004 MLB draft. During the 2004 Seacoast League Expos, he batted .277 with one home run and twenty-seven RBI. He joined the Potomac Nationals for 2007 and in September 2009, debuted in the MLB on the side of the Washington Nationals against the Phillies. He scored his first MLB home run and led his team to an 8-7 win over the Phillies.
In 2012, as the Nationals’ starting shortstop, he batted .285 with 24 doubles and 17 home runs scoring 56 runs and 51 drive ins.
Accolades
He has won the Silver Slugger Award three times and the MLB All-Star twice.
Personal Life
He fathered four children with his wife Chelsey, whom he married in 2010.
