About Iain Banks
Iain Banks was a Scottish author who rose to international recognition with his first novel The Wasp Factory, which was published in 1984. He went on to gain further prominence with his subsequent novels. His first science fiction book Consider Phlebas was published in 1987. Several of his books have been adapted for theatre and television. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest British writers of his generation.
Personal Life
From 1992 to 2009, he was married to Annie Blackburn. He married his second wife Adele Hartley in 2013, few months before his death.
Trivia
In 2008, he was included in The Times' list of The 50 greatest British writers since 1945.
