He was a writer and actor. He also was a featherweight boxer though he did not fight professionally. He acted in “Shadow of a Doubt” in 1943 then was in “Lifeboat” in 1944. In 1945, he played a role in “The Sailor takes a Wife” and “The Postman Always Rings Twice” in 1946.
Between the 1940’s and 2001, he was in “The Beginning or the End”, “People Will Talk”, and “Off Season” among others. He was also in a lot of television programs.
Personal Life
Born in Ontario, Canada, he was named Hume Blake Cronyn Jr. He married his first wife between 1934 and 1935. About a year or two later, they got divorced. In 1942, he got married to Jessica Tandy who was also an actress. They had two children together before she died of ovarian cancer in 1994. He married Susan Cooper two years later.
Death
He died at home from Prostate Cancer.
