Howard Hughes was an American businessman, aviator, inventor and aerospace engineer who was known during his lifetime as the world's wealthiest self-made man. He founded the Hughes Aircraft Company in 1932 and invested in the entertainment industry producing popular films such as Two Arabian Knights, The Front Page, Hell's Angels, Scarface and The Outlaw.
Family Life
He was the son of Allene Stone Gano and Howard R. Hughes, Sr., who was a successful inventor and businessman. He was married and divorced multiple times. His last marriage was to actress Jean Peters, from 1957 to 1971.
Achievements
He received an Academy Award in 1928 and a Congressional Gold Medal in 1939. He was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1973.
