About Himchan
Himchan is the stage name of Kim Him-chan, a South Korean singer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known best for his membership of the Korean boy band, B.A.P, which was active from 2012 to 2019.
Before the group’s official debut in 2012, he was made to host the music television show, “The Show” in late 2011 as a form of introduction to the general public. After 5 studio albums, 19 singles and nine EPs, the group disbanded in 2019. The following year, he debuted as a solo artist with a single titled “Reason of My Life”.
Personal Life
He was raised in Seoul, South Korea. In February 2021, he was given a 10-month prison sentence and ordered to undergo a 40-hour therapy by a Seoul district court after he was found guilty of harassing a woman sexually in 2018.
Achievements
As a member of B.A.P., he jointly received 20 awards out of 31 nominations including an Asia Artist Award, and three MTV Europe Music Awards.
Trivia
He plays a variety of Korean traditional instruments: daegeum, kkwaenggwari, janggu and jing.
In June 2021, he attempted suicide but survived.
