About Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese film director, screenwriter, producer and animator who is regarded as one of the greatest animators and directors in Japan. His films such as Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and The Wind Rises have over the years earned him several accolades and critical acclaim within and outside Japan.
Career
His career in the film industry began in 1963 when he worked as an animator for Toei Animation.
Family Life
He is the second of “Dola" and Katsuji Miyazaki's four sons. He got married to fellow animator Akemi Ōta in 1965. The couple has two sons, Gorō and Keisuke.
Trivia
He is often referred to as the Walt Disney of Japan.
