About Hal Sutton
Hal Sutton is a professional golfer who has competed in several golf tournaments. He is most notably known for being the 1983 PGA Tour’s leading money winner.
Early Life
Sutton was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and attended Centenary College, where he was known for being an exceptional golf player. While in college, he won more than a dozen tournaments and was named College Player of the Year.
Professional Golf Career
In the early 1980s, Sutton established himself in the PGA Tour and secured his first win at the Walt Disney World Golf Classic in 1982. He also played in four Ryder Cup tournaments for the US and was eventually made captain of the US team in 2004.
Achievements
Sutton has won several tournaments, including the 1985 St Jude Memphis Classic, 1985 Southwest Golf Classic, and the 1998 Tour Championship. In 2007, he was the recipient of the Payne Stewart Award for his work in philanthropy.
