About Gutzon Borglum
American sculptor Gutzon Borglum was famously known for his numerous works which were mostly inspired by historical moments. He was best celebrated for crafting the heads of some United States Presidents on the famous Mount Rushmore.
Aside from that, he also built sculptures of some renowned historical figures like General Philip Sheridan, President Abraham Lincoln and Charles Brantley Aycock.
Family
His parents Jens Møller Haugaard Børglum and Christina Mikkelsen Børglum migrated from Denmark. He had a sister named Ida. In 1909, he tied the knot with Mary Montgomery Williams and together they raised three kids including Lincoln Borglum who would also follow in the footsteps of his father.
Education
He briefly studied at St. Mary's College, Kansas before moving to Creighton Preparatory School.
Trivia
He was described in Simon Schama’s work titled “Landscape and Memory”.
As a politician, he was known for his association with the Bull Moose Party.
