Grover was an assistant teacher to his brother, who taught at a blind school. He then went on to college to become an attorney. He was known for his dedication to his job. He paid a Polish immigrant $150 to serve in his place during the Civil War.
Grover became the Governor of New York before he received the Democratic nomination for President. He became the 1st President to appear on film. He also was put on a postage stamp.
