Gregory Raymer, shortened as Greg Raymer, is a well-known successful American professional poker player. Dubbed “Fossilman” for his habit of using fossils as protectors for his cards, he is best known for his victory at the 2004 “World Series of Poker-Main Event.”

The poker star was born in Minot, North Dakota. He is an alumnus of Parkway South High School. In addition, he holds an undergraduate and master’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Raymer has a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and was a patent attorney for over ten years before his successes in poker events.
Poker Career Highlights
In 2004, Ray earned acclaim as a prolific poker player when he defeated fellow poker star David Williams to win the main event of the “World Series of Poker (WSOP).” Additionally, he received $5 million for his victory. The following year, he finished third at the “British Poker Open,” earning about £20,000.
He earned his first victory at the “World Championship of Online Poker” in 2007, netting $168,362 for the first prize. Ray also received $371,967 in prize money after winning the “Heartland Poker Tour Player of the Year” in 2012.
He won the Heartland Poker Tour’s Main Event a fifth time in 2020.
As of 2021, he had earned over $8 million from all his live tournaments.
