Gregory Carlton Anthony is the birth name of former American Basketball star Greg Anthony. He played 11 consecutive NBA (National Basketball Association) seasons. He has also worked as a media personnel and sports analyst on Yahoo! Sports and SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Early life
Anthony grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. After graduating from Rancho High School, he enrolled at the University of Portland. After his freshman year at Portland, Anthony transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He helped the "Runnin' Rebels" win the 1990 NCAA Championship as a junior. As a result, the Runnin Rebels have retired his No. 50 jersey.
NBA
He was a first-round pick for the New York Nicks at the 1991 NBA Draft. Anthony played as a point guard and in defense of the Nicks from 1991 to 1995.
During the 1995 expansion draft, the Vancouver Grizzlies drafted him as their second overall pick. He started as their point guard for the two subsequent NBA seasons. From the 1997 season until his retirement in 2002, he played in the NBA for the Seattle SuperSonics, Portland, Chicago Bulls, and Milwaukee.
Controversies
In 2015, he was arrested by Washington D.C police and charged with solicitation of a prostitute. The arrest led to his indefinite suspension at Turner Sports and CBS.
