About Giosuè Carducci
Giosuè Carducci is arguably the greatest poet to originate from Italy. He was best known for his poem collection titled “Juvenilia” which was divided into six books. He was a teacher and literary critic before publishing his first poem in the 1850s.
He was also celebrated for his 1863 work titled "Hymn to Satan (Inno a Satana)". His 1893 poem “Delle Odi barbare. Libri II ordinati e corretti” was very popular in his native Italy.
Family
His dad was a doctor. He had four kids with Elvira Menicucci. The poet was romantically linked with Annie Vivanti, an author.
Education
He had his education at the famous Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
Award
Carducci was the recipient of the 1906 Nobel Prize in Literature, becoming the first person from Italy to win this prize.
Trivia
During his time as a professor at the University of Bologna, he taught Giovanni Pascoli who would also become a poet.
He was influenced by ancient poets like Horace, and Virgil.
