Gianna Bryant was an American student whose claim to fame was being the daughter of one of the greatest basketball players of all-time, as well as a good player in her own right. Her name really came into the public spotlight when she tragically died alongside her dad in early 2020.
She was an aspiring basketball player who played at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles.
She also played for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Family Life
Her father was NBA legend Kobe Bryant, and her mother is Vanessa Laine Bryant.
Her older sister's name is Natalia and, the younger two are Bianka and Capri.
Her grandfather, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, also played in the NBA.
Trivia
Her father’s nickname for her was “Gigi”. It was his goal to eventually send her to UCONN to play collegiate basketball and then professionally in the WNBA (or perhaps even NBA).
His former NBA teammate Derek Fisher also believes she had the potential to play professionally.
She died in a helicopter crash on her way to basketball practice at a sports' academy run by her father.
She was approximately 4’ 7” in height.
She made headlines in 2015 for impersonating her father.
