Early Life
The footballer was raised by his father, William Asamoah. He lived his early life in Ghana until he emigrated to Germany with his family in 1990. The young star developed his love for football and joined the Hannover 96 academy to begin his amateur career.
Professional Career
Gerald rose through the junior ranks of Hannover 96 until he made his debut for the senior team in 1996. The football player made more than 70 appearances for the team until he signed for Schalke 04 II from 1999 to 2010. In 2004, he went back to play for the reserve team of his previous club, Schalke 04 II. He then played for German football club Greuther Furth from 2012 to 2013, returning to Schalke 04 II in 2013 till his retirement in 2015. He also played for the German national team from 2001 to 2006 and managed the Schalke 04 II from 2016 to 2021.
Personal Life
Asamoah married Linda Asamoah in 2001. The couple had 3 children as of 2021.
