About Georgios Samaras
Greek retired professional football player Georgios Samaras started his professional career with Heerenveen of the Dutch football league in 2002. He had previously been on the youth team of the Greek club, OFI Crete in the mid to late-1990s.
From 2006 to 2015, he played in Britain for teams like Manchester City, Celtic and West Bromwich Albion. In the build-up to his retirement in 2018, he had stints with Al Hilal, Rayo OKC, Real Zaragoza and Samsunspor.
Family Life
His father, Ioannis Samaras also played as a professional footballer. He was raised in Heraklion in Crete, a Greek Island.
Achievements
He was the Celtic Supporters’ Player of the Year for the 2012/2013 season. He also won four Scottish Premier League titles with Celtic.
Trivia
He became the Vice President of OFI Crete following his retirement as a player.
