Born in Tuscaloosa in Alabama, he was named George Arthur Foster and became a baseball player, nicknamed Yahtzee. He schooled in El Camino College.
Career
He was drafted during the third round of the 1968 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. He later moved to Cincinnati Reds. In February 1982, he was traded for Jim Kern, Greg Harris and Alex Treviño. He was traded to the New York Mets. His contract was for $10 million for five years.
He later worked as a scout advisor for Orix Buffaloes in 2010. He is known for his work on radio, on the show, “The George Foster Diamond Report”. His show talks about building a strong foundation as an athlete through strength and development. He works as a motivational speaker sometimes.
Achievements
He won the World Series twice, in 1975 and 1976. He was given the Silver Slugger Award in 1981.
Foster featured in 5 All-Star games. He is an inductee of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.
