About Georg Philipp Telemann
Georg Philipp Telemann was a 17th-century music composer from Germany. Also, he doubled as a multi-instrumentalist. He learned how to compose music and play other instruments all by himself without any immense help from anyone. When Telemann was ten years old, he was introduced to music and he became deeply in love with music and its composition. At the age of 12, he created his first opera.
Career
Later in Telemann’s life, he studied law but his love for music made him abandon the former career and focused on the latter one. Due to his hard work and unique composition techniques, he became very renowned and as a result, was elected to several positions such as the director of the municipal opera house Opernhaus auf dem Brühl, Konzertmeister, city music director and Kapellmeister at the Barfüßerkirche and St. Catherine's Church music director at the Neukirche.
Telemann’s credits include “Ferdinand und Isabella”, “Die verkehrte Welt”, “Sei tausendmal willkommen”, ”Die Auferstehung und Himmelfahrt Jesu” and “Twelve Fantasias for Transverse Flute without Bass”.
Family and Education
He was the child of Maria and Heinrich Telemann. He had two siblings known as Heinrich Matthias, and Heinrich Matthias Telemann. He married twice. First to Amalie Louise, Juliane Eberlin(m. 1709–1711) and later to Maria Catherina(m. 1714–1736). He gave birth to five children including Benedictus Eberhard W. Telemann, Andreas Telemann and Heinrich Matthias Telemann.
He was educated at Leipzig University.
Death
He died as a result of a chest ailment in 1767.

He is considered one of the most prolific composers in the history of surviving oeuvres.
Less than two years into his first marriage, his wife died. His second wife was a gambler as well as an adulterer.
Telemann’s life was seen by many as being full of troubles since calamities befell him often.
