About Geezer Butler
Officially named Terence Michael Joseph Butler, he is a songwriter and musician. He gained a reputation for being a member of the Black Sabbath band.
Personal Life
He descended from an Irish family who were Catholics. In school, he called everyone Geezer so he ended up with the nickname Geezer. He was from a completely poor family. Even though his parents were stout Catholics, he stopped believing in the faith and stopped attending mass though he mentioned that at a point, he only went to see the nice ladies.
He first got married in 1980 but the marriage did not work. He later made Gloria, the manager of “Heaven and Hell” his wife. His children are successful and his first son is also into music.
Career
Geezer had a band with John Osbourne in 1967. John was the main vocalist and the band was named “Rare Breed”. Later, he had another band by name “Earth” together with Bill Ward, who was the drummer, Tony Iommi (the guitarist), John Osbourne and Polka Tulk. When they found out the name “Earth” was already in use, they settled on “Black Sabbath”.
He left the band to handle issues arising from his divorce. He went back to the band but after the “Cross Purposes” tour was over, he left again.
