Basketball player, coach, and athletic director Fred Schaus was a very skilled personality during his active years as a player. The American is regarded as one of the sport's all-time best players. He had a short but fruitful career, playing for the Fort Wayne Pistons and the New York Knicks during his five-year tenure as a very accomplished player from 1949 to 1954.
