Fred Couples, also known by the nickname “Boom Boom”, is a professional American golfer who has over the years won dozens of professional tournaments such as the 1983 Kemper Open and the 1992 Masters Tournament. In 1992, he made history by becoming the first American professional golfer to be ranked #1 on the Official World Golf Ranking. That year, he spent a total of 19 weeks as World No. 1.
Family Life
He was born to Violet and Tom Couples. He was married to his first wife Deborah from 1981 to 1993. His second marriage was to Thais Baker. The marriage lasted from 1998 to 2009.
Trivia
He is one of a handful of professional golfers who do not play wearing a glove.
His ex-wife Deborah committed suicide in 2001.
In 2013, he received an induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
