About Fran Tarkenton
Fran Tarkenton is a retired NFL player and writer of American nationality. He played as a quarterback. He started playing football from high school, through to college, and later was drafted in the 1961 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. In the same year, he was drafted in the AFL Draft by the Boston Patriots. Tarkenton played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1961 to 1966, and from 1972 to 1978. In between those two periods, he joined the New York Giants (1967 to 1971). He had a successful career, winning lots of awards.
As a writer, he wrote several books including “No Time for Losing” in 1967, “Every Day is Game Day”, and “Playing to Win”.

He studied at Athens High School and the University of Georgia.

His father is called Dallas Tarkenton. In 1960, he got married to Anna Elaine Merrell, his first wife but divorced her after 22 years of marriage. Later, he got married to his second wife named Linda Sebastian. He has children named Matthew Tarkenton, Hayley Tarkenton, Melissa Tarkenton, and Angela Tarkenton.
Awards
In 1959, he won the Southeastern Conference championship with the University of Georgia. In 1975, he won the Bert Bell Award, the NFL Most Valuable Player Award, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award, and was selected to the First-team All-Pro. Tarkenton is also a nine-time Pro Bowl player.
