He is a former Argentine football player. As a striker, Fernando Ezequiel Cavenaghi played for teams such as River Plate, Spartak Moscow, Villarreal and Bordeaux. The footballer was described as one who could shoot from any distance and with either foot.
He achieved his greatest international success with the French football club Bordeaux, helping them to two Cup de la Ligue and Trophée des Champions victories as well as a Ligue 1 championship.

Career
In his first five appearances for River Plate as a professional, Cavenaghi scored one goal. The striker then went on to make over 80 appearances for the club, from 2001 to 2004.
He made his first international move to Spartak Moscow in July 2004 for a then record fee of $12 million. However, he was unable to adjust to Russian football and did not get as much playing time as he desired, featuring just 51 times in three years.
His time with Bordeaux saw him score over 30 goals in about 80 appearances. He then spent loan spells in Mallorca and Inter Milan. In 2011, he returned to River Plate. And after three years playing outside Argentina, he made his second return to River Plate in 2014.
All in all, he made over 370 club football appearances and scored about 180 goals in those games.
The striker’s first international cap for his national team came in 2008.
Awards and Honors
With Argentina Under-20, he won the South American Youth Championship in 2003.
His playing time in Bordeaux saw him win the Ligue 1 in the 2008/09 season.
