He was born to Désirée Bedouin and Denis Contandin. The actor married Henriette-Félicie Manse in 1925.
Career
The actor first appeared in a Hollywood motion picture titled “Around the World in 80 Days” directed by Michael Anderson and based on Jules Verne’s 1873 novel of the same name.
The French actor starred alongside actors Anita Ekberg and Bob Hope in the comedy film “Paris Holiday”, which was directed by Gerd Oswald in 1958.
Fernandel also appeared in and directed the films “Adrien” in 1943 and “Adhémar ou le Jouet de la fatalité” in 1951.
Death
His death was reported on February 26, 1971 as a result of lung cancer.
