About Fabrizio Ravanelli
Fabrizio Ravanelli is a retired Italian footballer who played professionally from 1986 to 2005 for the national and club teams. Many of the teams he played for were in Italy, France, Scotland and England. He was energetic and a very fast left-footed striker. He was praised for his very good aerial prowess.
Clubs
Fabrizio played first club games with local club Perugia Calcio in 1986 and left to play one season for Casertana. After two years with Reggiana, he signed for Juventus in 1992, where he became one of Europe’s top scorers at the time.
He was transferred on a £7 million contract to English side Middlesbrough in 1996. Even though the team was relegated in the 1996/97 premier season, the Italian striker helped them reach FA Cup and League Cup Finals.
In the 1998/99 season, he signed with Olympique de Marseille, and thereafter moved to Italian side Lazio, where they won Coppa Italia and Supercoppa in the 1999/2000 season
After an unfinished tenure at Derby County, he joined the Scottish club Dundee, but was sacked during the club’s effort to remove some high-paid players.
In 2004, Fabrizio returned to Perugia where he retired.
International
He made 22 appearances and bagged 8 goals for the national team from 1995 to 1999.
Managerial career
Fabrizio coached Juventus youth team from 2011 to 2013, and then AC Ajaccio but was sacked within seven months. He had another brief coaching spell at Ukrainian football club Arsenal Kyiv in 2018.
Records
At Juventus, he won one Serie A, Coppa Italia, Supercopper Italiana, UEFA Cup and the 1995/96 Champions League. He made an uncommon record when he scored five goals in a 5-1 win against CSKA Sofia in 1994.
