About Ewan McGregor
Ewan McGregor is an actor who became an international star after playing the young Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Decades later, he reprised his role in the 2022 miniseries “Obi Wan Kenobi”. The actor is also known for his roles in films such as "Trainspotting", "Salmon Fishing in Yemen", and "The Ghost Writer".
Education
McGregor studied at Morrison's Academy. The actor worked as a stagehand at Perth Theatre and completed a foundation course in theater at Kirkcaldy College of Technology before traveling to London to study acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Career
His first television appearance was on the TV series “Lipstick on Your Collar” in 1993. He made his film debut the following year, playing Alvarez in the 1994 film “Being Human”. McGregor performed the male romantic lead part in the British film "Little Voice" in 1998, and he also appeared in the 2001 film "Moulin Rouge!"
The actor voiced two successful animated features: "Robots", in which he played the robot Rodney Copperbottom, and “Valiant”, in which he voiced the principal character, both of which were completed in 2005. That same year, he was in “Stay”, a psychological thriller directed by Marc Forster. In that film, he starred alongside Naomi Watts and Ryan Gosling.
Some of his newer movies in 2022 are "Pinocchio" and "Raymond and Ray."
Family Life
He is the son of Carole Diane and James Charles Stewart McGregor. He has an older brother named Colin. He married Eve Mavrakis in 1995 and had four daughters with her. Unfortunately, he divorced and remarried Mary Elizabeth Winstead in 2022, with whom he has a child.
Awards
His honors include a Golden Globe nomination, a Primetime Emmy nomination, and the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award. The actor was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2013 for his contributions to theatre and charity.
