About Evo Morales
Juan Evo Morales Ayma is a political personality who is known for being the 65th Bolivian president. He initially garnered nationwide attention as the leader of the Movement for Socialism party in 1998, shortly after he went to Congress.
His participation in the Bolivian gas conflict led to his dismissal from Congress in 2002 but it helped boost his fame and he won the 2006 presidential elections. He stayed in power until 2019, resigning amidst calls for him to do so due to election fraud allegations.
Family Life
He was born to Dionisio Morales Choque and Maria Ayma Mamani, who died while giving birth to him. Only two of his six siblings lived beyond childhood. His son and daughter have different mothers. He has never been married. His sister, Esther Morales Ayma, served as his First Lady.
Achievements
He received the Al-Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights in 2006.
