About Évariste Galois
Évariste Galois was a renowned French mathematician whose group and field theories have helped in the study of abstract algebra. As a teenager, he came up with a solution to a mathematical problem which had existed for over three centuries.
Aside from mathematics, he was also involved in politics and was cited in the 1830 French Revolution. In view of that, he was arrested and served many months in jail.
Family
His parents were Adélaïde-Marie Demante and Nicolas-Gabriel Galois.
Education
Galois began his education at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in 1823. He also studied at the École préparatoire.
Death
He died from the multiple wounds he sustained during a duel in 1832.
Trivia
He developed a love for mathematics at the age of 14 years.
He was influenced by the likes of Joseph-Louis Lagrange and Adrien-Marie Legendre.
