Eugene McCarthy was a prominent American politician, writer, and scholar who is best known as one of the most revered politicians in Minnesota history. He was a long-serving member of the House of Representatives. He was a member of the Democratic Party and represented the State of Minnesota from 1949 to 1959. As a senator, he was a staunch opponent of the Vietnam War. He is recognized for his strong principles and honesty, despite never serving in Presidential Office.
