About Esteban Jordan
Known as “the Jimi Hendrix of the accordion”, Esteban Jordan was a famous American musician who played across different genres, including rock, Tejano and jazz. He was also a seasoned instrumentalist and could play about 35 instruments.
Music Career
Jordan’s passion for music began when he was a young boy. He learned how to play the accordion first. While he maintained his Hispanic style of play, he was also determined to explore other genres of music. As he developed his craft, he grew more famous in the Hispanic community and by the 1960s, had recorded over 100 singles and several albums.
He became more mainstream in the 1980s after appearing in the film, “True Stories”, as well as the TV show, “Hank Wangford’s A to Z of C&W”. He was also nominated for a Grammy for his 1986 song “Turn Me Loose”.
Personal Life
Jordan was married twice to Virginia Martinez and then Imelda Perez. Both marriages ended in divorce. He had two sons and two daughters who unfortunately lost him in 2010.
