Personal Life
This talented star was named Ernest Roscoe Dickerson when he was born and grew up expressing interest in architecture. Due to this, he got educated at Howard University to study that. Around the same time, he also hinted at his interest in movies and television shows. After Howard University, he continued acquiring knowledge at Tisch School of Arts. He became friends with Spike Lee who he met in school and together, they worked on a few television shows.
Career
He started his career as a cinematographer even though it was mainly music videos he worked on at the beginning. Stars like Anita Baker and Bruce Springsteen benefited from his works then in 1984, he worked on “Tales from the Darkside”. In the same year, he got called on as director of photography for the film “The Brother from Another Planet”.
He went on to get bigger in the industry and received more gigs. In 1990, he directed “Great Performances” then in 2002, he worked on “Big Sot: Confessions of a Campus Rookie” and “Monday Night Mayhem”. He also directed “Tell Me You Love Me” in 2007. Other shows he has worked on include “Ava & Gabriel: Un Historia di amor”, “One Night with Blue Note” and “Joe’s Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads”.
