About Elmer Grey
Elmer Grey is recognized as one of the earliest developers of the early 20th century’s new American architecture. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, he was based in California and became known for his designs of some famous buildings in Southern California. They include the Huntington Art Gallery, the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Wattles Mansion and the Pasadena Playhouse.
He also did several paintings which are being held in the Chicago Art Institutes permanent collection.
Personal Life
He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended local public schools. He was never college-educated.
