About Ella Fitzgerald
Ella Fitzgerald was an American jazz singer.
Career
Ella Fitzgerald, who is also known as the Queen of Jazz, found her first success as a singer with the Chick Webb Orchestra. Webb died in 1942, so Ella Fitzgerald took over the band for awhile. She eventually left though to pursue a solo career. Most of Fitzgerald's known songs were recorded by Norman Granz of Verve Records. This included her singing classics from The Great American Songbook. Other than her solo work, Fitzgerald is famous for performing on recordings along with other great jazz musicians like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
