Her most popular roles include Ashley Abbott in “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” and Kristen DiMera in “Days of Our Lives”. As an author, she is known for mystery novels such as “Swinging in the Rain” and “Death in Daytime”.

She grew up as the last of seven children in a Roman Catholic family in California. She has one child and has been married thrice. Her ex-husbands are the late actor Christopher Mayer and actor/writer/director Jon Lindstrom. In 2003, she married actor Vincent Van Patten.
