In 1989, a TV talent competition program led to the discovery of Edyta Anna Gorniak, one of the most well-known figures in the Polish music industry. The three-decade-long pop vocalist is renowned for having a broad vocal range of about four octaves.
Background
She made her maiden appearance on a talent contest, at age 16. “Metro” (also known as "Subway"), which she starred in, brought her to Broadway.
Her career took off after her 1994 Eurovision Song Contest appearance, where she finished in second place with her rendition of "To nie ja" becoming a sensation in Europe.
In 1997, she issued her debut self-titled English-language album. She founded her own independent label, EG. Production, with Dariusz Krupa, her ex-husband.
She returned to music in 2008 after a six-year break, releasing albums from 2012 to 2018. She made her fourth appearance as a coach in The Voice of Poland's eleventh season in 2020.
