About Eddy Arnold
American country music legend Eddy Edward Arnold is well known for his over 5-decade contribution to the music industry. Arnold had over a hundred record hits to his name and an impressive record sale of more than 70 million.
Early Life
Arnold was born to William and Georgia Wright Arnold. He started his education at Pinson High School, where he nurtured his musical talent by playing the guitar during school events. He, however, quit school before graduation due to financial constraints.
Career
The musician began performing on stage at the age of 16. His first major hit was in 1946 with the country song "That's How Much I Love You". By the year 1947 to 1948, Arnold could boast of more than 6 songs in the top 10 charts. The musician also delved into television when he appeared in “The Eddy Arnold Show” in the 1950s. He also produced "What's He Doing in My World" in 1965, which did very well on the American Billboard Charts.
Personal life and Death
The musician was married to Sally Gayhart Arnold from 1941 to 2008. He died in a care facility in 2008 and was survived by 2 children
Awards
1996 saw Arnold inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
He won the Country Music Entertainer of the Year award in 1997.
The Recording Academy bestowed upon the musician a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
