Dwight D. Eisenhower was an American politician. He served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961.
His Highlights/Legacy
He was a 5-star general in the United States Army in World War II and he was responsible for the Operation Torch, as well as the invasion of France and Germany. He also became the first Supreme Commander of NATO.
As President, he authorized the establishment of NASA, he was mainly responsible for the New Look national security policy and he encouraged the peaceful use of nuclear power.
He is regarded as one of the greatest American Presidents of all time.
His Personal Life
He was married to First Lady Mamie Eisenhower and they had 2 sons. His second son, Doud, died of scarlet fever at the age of 3. Oil painting was his hobby!
