About Donald Bradman
Donald George Bradman was an Australian cricket player. He made a name for himself as an excellent international Test cricketer who played actively from November 1928 to August 1948. He was a batsman, not only for the Australian international team but the domestic teams: New South Wales (1927 to 1934) and South Australia (1935 to 1949). He set numerous records in the sport, some of which have stood the test of time.
Family Life
He was born to Emily Whatman and George Bradman. He grew up alongside three sisters and a brother in New South Wales, Australia. He was married to Jessie Martha Menzies from 1932 until her 1997 death. They had three children; the first died in infancy, the other two are namely John and Shirley.
Achievements
He has been an inductee of the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame and the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was the first Australian to be put on a postage stamp while still alive.
Death
He died in February 2001, a month after he was discharged from the hospital for pneumonia.
