About Don Pardo
Don Pardo was the professional alias of American radio and television announcer, Dominick George Pardo. With a career that lasted for over 70 years, he is remembered for his appearances on television shows on NBC. The shows on which he served as an announcer include “Jeopardy!”, “Jackpot”, “The Price Is Right”, “NBC Nightly News” and “Winning Streak”. His best-known show was “Saturday Night Live!” on which he appeared for 38 seasons.
Family Life
He was the son of Polish immigrants, Viola and Dominick Pardo. He grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and Norwich, Connecticut. He was married to Catherine Lyons from 1938 until her death in 1995. They had five children together.
Achievements
He became an inductee of the Television Hall of Fame in 2010.
Death
He died at 96 years old on 18 August 2014 in his sleep.
