About Don Cherry
Don Cherry is a retired Canadian ice hockey player, commentator, and sports writer, who is noted to have retired also as a National Hockey League (NHL) coach. His full name is Donald Cherry. During his playing time, he is noted to have played a game with the Boston Bruins and went ahead to coach them for about five seasons. He had the privilege to co-host Coach's Corner, between 1986 and 2019.
Family Life
His father, Delmar Cherry, was an amateur athlete and also worked for the Canadian Steamship Lines as an electrician. His mother is Maude Cherry. His brother is former ice hockey player, John Cherry, popularly known as "Dick".
He got married to Rosemarie Cherry in 1957 and they stayed married for about 40 years before her tragic demise in 1997. He married Luba Cherry in 1999. His children include; Tim and Cindy Cherry.
Achievements
Cherry and his co-host, Ron Maclean received a Star on Canada's Walk of Fame in 2016.
He was bestowed Canadian Forced Medallion for Distinguished Service in 2008.
Trivia
His daughter, Cindy donated one of her kidneys to her brother, Tim.
