Dmitri Shostakovich was a highly-rated Russian pianist and composer who was mostly known for his sleek voice and musical techniques. Most of his songs where a reflection of life, in the Soviet Union, under the brutal reign of Joseph Stalin.
His list of works included six concerti, 15 symphonies, and 24 preludes and fugues. He also composed music for a number of movies such as “The First Echelon”, “The Gadfly” and “The Second Waltz”.

He’s one of the children of Sofiya Vasilievna Kokoulina and Dmitri Boleslavovich Shostakovich. He was married to Irina Supinskaya. He had been married to Margarita Kainova. He left behind two children named Maxim, a pianist, and Galina.
Achievements
His outstanding works earned him honors like “Hero of Socialist Labor”, “People's Artist of the USSR”, and “Lenin Prize”.
Death
He was pronounced dead in 1975 after battling lung cancer.
