About Djamel Mesbah
Djamel Mesbah is an Algerian professional left-back footballer who appeared in two consecutive FIFA World Cups for his country.
Club career
Mesbah played for US Annecy-le-Vieux in France as a junior. He started to play at the senior level at Servette FC in the 2003/2004 Swiss Super League (SUL). He also played two seasons for the Swiss side Basel from 2004 to 2006.
After a year on loan at Lorient for 2005/2006 League 2, and without any appearance, he played three seasons in the Super League of Switzerland for FC Aarau and Luzern. He then moved to Italy to play for Avellino, AC Milan, Parma, Livorno, Sampdoria and Crotone between 2008 and 2017.
In January 2019, the Algerian left back signed with Etoile Carouge and retired from football in July the same year.
International Career
Mesbah first appeared in his national team during the preparation for South Africa 2010 World Cup. In a friendly match against Ireland, he performed well and was listed for South Africa as well as the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Records
All in all, he had over 260 appearances and fifteen goals at the club level, and more than 30 appearances with one goal for his national team.
