About Dion Phaneuf
Canadian ice hockey star Dion Phaneuf started playing the sport professionally in 2000 with the Red Deer Rebels, a team which plays in the junior Western Hockey League. Five years later, he debuted for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL).
As a defenceman, he has also played in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
He has also been a Canada international, having featured in the World Junior Hockey Championships of 2004 and 2005 and Men’s World Ice Hockey Championships in 2007.
Family Life
He was born to Amber and Paul Phaneuf. His younger brother, Dane, has also played major junior hockey.
He has been married to actress Elisha Cuthbert since July 2013. Their daughter, Zaphire, was born in 2017.
Achievements
He won the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy twice. In the NHL, he made the All-Rookie Team of 2005/2006 and played in three All-Star Games.
Trivia
He became an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
