He is a Brazilian football player who is noted for playing for the Spanish club, Athletico Madrid, where he has been heavily utilized in the striker position. Diego Costa has also featured on a number of occasions for the Spanish national team.
He stared off his playing career in Brazil and soon joined the Portuguese football club, Braga at age 17. He stayed on loan with Penafiel and did not have the privilege to play for the aforementioned club. The following year, he landed a contract with Atletico Madrid.
Some of the clubs in which he has played for include; Celta (2007 - 2008), Valladolid (2009 - 2010), Rayo Vallecano (2012), and Chelsea (2014 – 2017).

His father is José Jesus while his mother is Josileide Costa. His siblings are known as Jair and Talita Costa. He is noted to have been romantically involved with Michele Zuanne. His is known to have a daughter named Isadora Costa.
