About Didier Deschamps
Didier Deschamps pursued a memorable career as a professional soccer player for 16 years (1985-2001) before taking on a managerial position in the sport immediately after his retirement. The French soccer icon was a defensive midfielder and he began his senior career with Nantes, where he spent four years. He joined Marseille in 1989 and set a record with the team in 1993 as the youngest team captain to win the UEFA Champions League. He also played for Juventus, Valencia and Chelsea. From 1989 to 2000, he made over 100 caps for the France national team, for which he has served as head coach since 2012.
Family Life
At 19, he lost his brother, Philippe in a plane crash. He has a son with Claude Antoinette who has been his wife since 1989.
Achievements
He was the 2004 Ligue 1 Manager of the Year. In 2018, he emerged as the Best FIFA Football Coach, Globe Soccer Awards Coach of the Year and the IFFHS World’s Best National Coach.
Trivia
